The Arkansas Razorbacks suffered a frightening incident in their 34-22 loss to the Texas A&M Aggies on Saturday, September 30, 2023. In the fourth quarter, defensive lineman John Morgan collapsed on the field after a play that did not involve much contact. He seemed to snap his head backwards on impact and fell to the ground after taking two steps. He was immediately attended by the medical staff and carted off the field while strapped to a backboard. He was seen blinking and talking to the trainers as they restrained him.

According to SEC Network sideline reporter Alyssa Lang, Morgan was dealing with some soreness and pain in his neck area, which was caused by his neck getting snapped back. He was taken to a local hospital in Arlington, Texas, for further evaluation. Lang also reported that the move was purely precautionary and that Morgan had movement everywhere.

After the game, Arkansas head coach Sam Pittman said that Morgan visited him and told him that he was fine. Pittman also said that Morgan had some tenderness in his neck, but he had movement everywhere and he was at the doctor. Pittman praised the medical staff for taking care of Morgan and said that he hoped he would be back soon.

Morgan is a senior transfer from Pittsburgh, where he played for four seasons. He joined Arkansas this year and has been a key contributor on the defensive line. He has recorded four tackles and two sacks in four games so far. His teammates and coaches showed their support and concern for him as he was taken off the field, while the entire Texas A&M side took a knee.

Arkansas is currently 2-3 on the season and will face Ole Miss on the road next week. The Razorbacks are hoping to snap a three-game losing streak and get back on track in the SEC West division. They are also hoping to have Morgan back on the field as soon as possible, as he is an important part of their defense.
